Sherri and I fell in love with the Tenmile Lake House property from the first time we saw it. The elegant design of the main house nestled in the beauty and grace of the towering fir trees with North Tenmile Lake lapping at the shores – well, it was made to order for us. The property encompasses nearly 6 acres, with over 1200 feet of lake frontage and three separate living spaces. North Tenmile Lake is more secluded than its more populated southern twin, and we can see only one neighbor from the property. Other than the honking of the geese, it is very quiet and peaceful here. There is currently no road to the property, so you must access it by boat.
We moved in on March 25th, 2022 and the properties officially became ours on April 1st, 2022. Although we considerably streamlined our possessions before moving from Arizona, it still took three trips by pontoon boat to get our possessions to the main dock. We’ve since been settling in and adjusting to lake life. I’ve begun to build a trail so that we can access the more remote parts of the property – the underbrush is quite dense and the terrain is rugged, so the trail will help us move about. More on this later, but I will say I’m quite enjoying it.
We planted two kiwi plants and two fig trees two weeks ago. It’s been unseasonably wet lately – we’ve had over 5 inches of rain in two weeks, when the monthly average for April here is 5.9 inches – so the plants haven’t done much yet. However, they’re showing some signs of life now.
Our first kayaking trip on the lake was an event. We didn’t go far, but saw salamanders swimming in the water close to shore, as well as had a bald eagle fly directly over our heads. Amazing!
